Blas Lleol (meaning Local Taste) is our exciting new project aiming to connect food producers and rural communities in South East Wales. Partly funded for three years through the Rural Development Plan the project will support food producers in reaching markets local to their customers, and increase their networks across new areas.

We will support Welsh producers in overcoming barriers to market, and increase access to fresh, local food for communities. We want to show that high quality produce doesn’t mean paying high prices. By working with producers, organisations and the public we will bring a diverse range of producers to new and existing markets.

Our Markets

Apart from organising training sessions, studies and feasibilities, our work revolves around the delivery of rural markets which we currently operate at six regular locations in Newport, Caerphilly and Torfaen , we’re also broadening our reach and looking to take these pop-up markets into Bridgend and Monmouthshire. This direct hands on approach enables us to keep close to a growing number of artisan producers, growers and generally very talented individuals. Our close relationship with these market traders provides us with  valuable insight  for our research and these traders are also keen stakeholders wanting to be involved our Blas Lleol project.

If you’d like to know more about how our Blas Lleol project could you help, then please contact us at Cotyledon.
